Working capital and cost systems
Release cash locked in receivables and inventory, and know what each product really costs.
The situation: The business is profitable on paper but always short of cash, and pricing is based on guesswork.
Cash shortage in a growing business is usually a systems problem rather than a funding problem. Credit terms are extended informally, inventory is bought in bulk to save a few percent, and nobody owns the cycle end to end.
Where it usually goes wrong
- Credit periods are agreed by sales and enforced by nobody.
- Slow-moving stock sits on the books at full value.
- Costing uses a standard percentage for overheads that has not been checked in years.
How we work
We measure the cycle as it stands, find the few customers, items and practices that lock up most of the cash, and design the policies and routines to release it. In parallel we build a costing model from actual data, and wire margins and working capital into the monthly MIS so the gains are kept.
